The Paynesville Area Hospital District took the following actions at their meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
The board approved making the PAHCS campus smoke-free, effective Monday, Oct. 1. The proposal passed on a 12-1 vote. Residents of 700 Stearns Place will still be able to smoke in their apartments, and residents of the Koronis Manor will be able to smoke in designated areas.
Employees, visitors, and hospital and clinic patients will not be able to smoke in the PAHCS buildings or on the grounds.
The board acknowledged a $700 donation for 700 Stearns Place from Betty Lou Johnson in memory of her mother, Gladys Olson.
The board approved a $3,660 educational loan request from Melanie Evans. Evans, a certified nursing assistant, will be going back to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Board members were given a list of 13 community members who have been identified for possible service on the board for the Paynesville Area Hospital Foundation, Inc. Three members of the hospital board - the vice chair, treasurer, and chief of staff - will serve on the foundation's board along with six members of the district.
The hospital board will vote on the 13 candidates for the foundation board at their next board meeting.
