New drug testing options

The PAHCS Lab now has available an in-house drug screening device that screens for drugs of abuse. Possible situations this test may be useful for includes suspected overdose patients in emergency situations or monitoring for "drugs of abuse" usage by concerned parties.

The Profile II Drug Screen device screens for the following "drugs of abuse": marijuana, opiates, cocaine, amphetamines, phencyclidine, tricyclic antidepressants, barbiturates, methadone, and benzodiazepines.

Any positive findings are sent to the Med Tox Laboratory in St. Paul for confirmation.

The PAHCS Lab also serves as a collection site for businesses that are required to obtain Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) urine drug screens of employees. These samples are collected and submitted to a D.O.T. testing laboratory. Non-D.O.T. regulated businesses interested in setting up pre-employment drug screen testing should contact Renae Wirkkula, PAHCS Lab, 320-243-7751, for more information.
