Job shadowing offered to students Nicole Braegelman, a sophomore at Belgrade/Brooten/Elrosa [BBE] High School, recently had the opportunity to shadow Joseph Stephanie, an anesthetist at Paynesville Area Hospital. Under the guidance and mentoring of Mr. Stephanie, Nicole was able to view how the correct determinations and means of administering anesthesia are done in unique operations. She was able to see procedures firsthand in the cases of a tonsillectomy, a cesarean operation, and a hernia surgery. Nicole was impressed by the teamwork shown by the surgical teams and how Mr. Stephanie took the time to answer all of her questions. Her experience at PAHCS kindled her desire to explore a career in anesthesiology even more. BBE Community Partnership should be commended for giving their senior high students a chance to get a closer look at potential careers of interest to them. Return to Newsletter
